Promethean Equipment Maintenance

Your one stop to ensure your board continues to work properly through the school year.

Top 5 Maintenance Tips

5. Cable Management

Make sure all your cables are secured and covered. Over time the wires inside of cables can break preventing the electrical connectivity necessary for them to function properly. Minimize this risk by securing cables using zip ties and disconnect them from you board only when absolutely necessary.

4. Do Not Use Any Abrasive Cleaners on the Surface of Your Board

"You really could use any number of items to clean the board, but the most important thing to keep in mind is to not use anything abrasive." - Kathryn Vaughn, Teaching and Learning Consultant, Promethean, Inc.
Your first attempt to clean your board should be a damp towel. Water will clean most marks on your board. Next use a small amount of soap with the damp towel. Expo cleaner solvent will work as well.

3. Turn Off Your Projector During Lunch and Planning Periods

Your bulb has a limited number of hours that it will function. Leaving the bulb on when not in use will just eat into that time. If you are not going to use the projector for more than 30 minutes, turn it off.

2. Communicate proper use of the board to your students so they can help protect it when you have a sub

Your students want to use the board as much as you do! Let them and they will become your experts when you need them.
